If this alert triggers while a customer is attempting to charge, gently inquire:

  • Did the customer wait several minutes between opening the Charge Port and inserting the charging cable?
    • If yes, this can cause the latch to move back into its default position and block the charge cable insert.
  • Did the customer use a finger or tool to move the latch out of the way to insert the charge cable?
    • If yes, this is what triggered the alert.
  • Did the customer unscrew the charge port cover and move the latch?
    • If yes, advise the customer that this is dangerous and please bring the vehicle in for a inspection.
  • Did the customer use the manual release lever in the trunk to release the charge port latch and then attempt to charge?
    • If yes, this is what triggered the alert.
